Our Romantic Getaway is designed for two, from the first game drive to the last sunset. Five days of private safari take you through Lake Manyara, Tarangire, and into the Ngorongoro Crater, before six nights in your own private villa on Kendwa's white-sand beach, on Zanzibar's northwest coast.
Every detail has been shaped around the two of you: a private vehicle and guide for the entire safari, a champagne sundowner picnic on the crater floor, a couples' spa treatment at your villa, and a sunset dhow cruise with a private dinner served on the water. This is Tanzania and Zanzibar at their most intimate — no groups, no fixed schedules, just the two of you and the landscape.
5 days, Manyara to Ngorongoro
A sundowner picnic on the crater floor
6 nights of beachfront seclusion
This itinerary is lovely year-round. The dry season from June through October offers the easiest game viewing on the safari portion and calm, sunny days on Kendwa's beach.
The green season from November through March brings dramatic skies and quieter parks, along with lower rates, while Zanzibar stays warm throughout. Many couples choose February for the Ngorongoro Highlands' cooler evenings paired with Kendwa's warm, calm waters — ideal for sunset dhow dinners. Avoid the long rains in April–May if uninterrupted outdoor time is a priority.
Your private guide collects you from Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport and drives you to Lake Manyara National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions and flocks of flamingos along the lake shore. Enjoy an afternoon game drive with the lake as a backdrop, then settle into your lodge for a candlelit dinner to mark the start of your journey together.
A relaxed morning drive brings you to Tarangire National Park, famous for its enormous elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. Spend the afternoon on a private game drive along the Tarangire River before arriving at your lodge in time for sundowners overlooking the plains.
A full day exploring Tarangire's riverine woodlands and open plains, with excellent chances of elephant, giraffe, and a wide variety of birdlife. Enjoy a private picnic lunch beneath a baobab tree before continuing the afternoon's search for wildlife, then return to the lodge for an evening together by the fire.
Depart Tarangire and drive up into the Ngorongoro Highlands, arriving at your lodge perched on the crater rim in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure, taking in the sweeping views over the caldera below, before a private dinner as you prepare for tomorrow's descent into the crater.
Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a private, full-day safari with just the two of you and your guide. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the best places on Earth to see the Big Five in a single day, with dense populations of lion, elephant, buffalo, and the rare black rhino. As the afternoon light turns golden, your guide sets up a champagne sundowner picnic on the crater floor before you ascend back to the lodge.
After a final crater-rim breakfast, transfer to the nearby airstrip for your scenic flight to Zanzibar, watching the landscape shift from savanna to coastline below. On arrival, a private transfer takes you to Kendwa on the island's northwest coast, home to some of Zanzibar's most beautiful sunsets. Settle into your private villa and toast the beach portion of your trip with a cocktail on the sand.
A full day to settle into villa life. Swim in Kendwa's calm, swimmable-at-every-tide waters, relax on your private deck, or simply enjoy having a stretch of beach that feels like your own. Your villa's private chef prepares dinner as the sun sets over the water — Kendwa is one of the few spots on Zanzibar's west coast where you can watch it dip below the horizon.
A slow morning followed by a couples' spa treatment at your villa, using local Zanzibari spices and coconut oils for a truly island-style pampering session. Spend the rest of the day however you like — a swim, a nap in the shade, or a walk along the beach at low tide. Dinner is served privately at the villa.
Spend the day at leisure before boarding a traditional wooden dhow in the late afternoon for a private sunset cruise along the coast. As the sky turns orange and pink over the Indian Ocean, a private dinner is served on board — just the two of you, the crew, and the sea.
Your last full day together on the island. Choose to join an optional excursion to historic Stone Town for a guided tour of its winding alleys, the former Sultan's Palace, and the spice markets, or simply stay at the villa for one more lazy day in the sun. Enjoy a farewell dinner as you reflect on the journey from the crater floor to Kendwa's shores.
Enjoy a final breakfast on your villa's terrace and one last swim before checkout. A private transfer takes you to Zanzibar's Abeid Amani Karume International Airport for your onward flight, with connections available via Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, or Addis Ababa. Depart with memories of a private safari through Tanzania's finest parks and a week made entirely for the two of you.

Arusha, Tanzania • Established 2015
Nashivai Safaris is a locally owned and operated safari company based in Arusha, Tanzania. Our Romantic Getaway is designed specifically for couples, pairing a fully private safari to the Ngorongoro Crater with a secluded villa stay in Kendwa, all arranged down to the last detail by our experienced team.
The champagne sundowner in the crater was a moment we'll never forget — just us, our guide keeping a respectful distance, and a herd of buffalo grazing below. Kendwa afterward was pure calm. Nashivai got every detail right.
— Elena & Daniel R., Italy • October 2025We booked this for our honeymoon and it exceeded every expectation. Having our own guide the whole safari made it feel completely unhurried, and the sunset dhow dinner off Kendwa was the highlight of the whole trip.
