Your tour begins with a morning pickup from your hotel, followed by a scenic 20–30 minute boat ride across the sparkling waters of the Indian Ocean to Prison Island. Upon arrival, your guide will share the fascinating history of the island — from its origins as a detention site to its transformation into a quarantine station during colonial times.
Next, visit the giant tortoise sanctuary, where you’ll meet the island’s most famous residents. Some of these gentle giants are more than 100 years old, offering a rare opportunity for close interaction and photography. Learn about their conservation and enjoy feeding them under the shade of palm trees.
After exploring the island’s historical sites and old prison ruins, take time to relax or swim in the island’s clear blue waters. You may also choose to go snorkeling around the coral reefs that surround the island, teeming with colorful fish and marine life.
